Its a great book. The first two chapters really emphasize the importance of drawing from life though. As much as its called "drawing from the imagination" you really need that "life" experience. He goes quite indepth with structure, proportions etc. Different body types. The last bit is about "graphic narrative." He's got a really nice style in that regard.

Apparently these quickie paintings help to develop the personal style.

A fairly quick exercise. I'm sure it's under 10 minutes, but I'm not sure how fast exactly. After reading a bit about comic book faces. I think that moving from Asian to American manga is an improvement. Something a bit wrong with the bottom right side of the mouth, where the bottom teeth jut out. I only spotted it now, after uploading, but I'm sure the next one will be better. :)

I was reading about manga in IFX, apparently calling the big eyed cutesyness the "manga style" pisses the Japanese off. Manga is their word for comic, not a specific style.

Yeah, I use "manga" to describe any comic form. :) (In Mandarin it's "man-hua".)

Are you doing those off of Posemaniacs or making them up?

Posemaniacs don't have genitalia... 8o These are references from the IFX dvds. I suck at the making up poses thing. One or two of the previous posts do have some posemaniacs, but I do the 30sec drawing thing with them. You can see the difference.. at least, I can. :P

Yeah, I was wondering, because I'm sucking big time at making up poses, and I was wondering how you did it if that was what you were doing. :P
