Mass Effect fan art :P

Postby Elyaradine » Sun Mar 07, 2010 10:28 pm

So, having finished Mass Effect 2 this evening, I was faced with that horrible emptiness that comes with the end of something good, and, knowing that playing the game again would just make me feel guilty, I thought I'd just paint something so that at least I'm somehow improving at something. Feel free to paint your own. ^_^

Gigathanks to Shadowwolf for some gorgeous reference images of Jack. ^_^

It kind of bothers me that her face doesn't look like Jack's, but I can't really see what's wrong with it. Still a lot more to do, but I resolve to actually FINISH a painting for once in my life!

Just at looking at a distance - thumbnails size, it looks like i'm looking at her back - just her head is on backwards, most of her anatomy looks like it's the back and not the front. But i'm sure u will get that sorted once you have started with the definition.

Also she doesn't have much of a neck, breasts are flat and undefined, her upper body looks almost too long - looking at how she bends at her waist as she raises her leg - where it bends should be at where the 2nd lowest rib is, and her ribcage is certainly too just a little too long - judging by where it ends on the right hand side.

Looking at it from a distance helps make these little things apparent.

I know I have to fix her right shoulder big time. I reckon that alone will fix loads of problems. I originally drew it pushed upwards due to the movement of slamming her hand into the guy's face, but her shoulder should probably go backwards (z-space) instead of up.

I'll check some reference for proportions - you're right about the waist bend position - but her breasts are supposed to be flat and undefined from what I recall, her being really skinny. Almost boyish skinny.

I've changed the proportions a bit, but otherwise haven't been particularly inspired to continue. Those tattoos are a pain in the ass. :P
